1895, Melbourne: Lucy Sullivan returns to the city, alone and destitute after being forced to give up her illegitimate baby. While welcomed back into the fold by former mentor and theatre impresario JC Williamson, betrayals, backstabbing and secrets from her past propel Lucy to start building her own theatre company. Lucy must use all her skills and guile to tame the increasingly volatile streets of Chinatown and become the first female theatre owner, just as a colony becomes a nation.
Majesty brings to life the rich and riotous days of Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre in the 1890s, and the alleys, bordellos and opium dens behind the footlights.
