1895, Melbourne: Lucy Sullivan returns to the city, alone and destitute after being forced to give up her illegitimate baby. While welcomed back into the fold by former mentor and theatre impresario JC Williamson, betrayals, backstabbing and secrets from her past propel Lucy to start building her own theatre company.
